Jesus’ Calling Was to Be Born Again
Sundays at the Tree Church Daily are a day to prepare our hearts for what God wants to do through corporate worship. We need the Spirit to lead us and show us what He is doing currently and wants to do in us. This involves praying and asking Him to allow us to be aware of His activity in our lives.
If you are new to prayer and still trying to understand how God speaks to us, pray the prayer below, anticipating that God will meet you where you are.
Let’s pray…
Father,
Will You lead and guide my life? I believe the path You have for me is leading me to new life, but sometimes that path is hard. If I am honest, I am not sure I want to travel it. Help me to see the places You challenge me not as something that takes away from my life, but as a change for the better. I know that it depends on faith in You, so please help me to have that faith. Amen.
As we think about what it means to be a disciple this week, one of the first things we have to understand is that Jesus doesn’t allow us to add Him on to our lives, like an addition to an already completed house. When we choose to follow Jesus, He comes in and does a complete remodel. He begins the process of reorientating our values, our desires, and how we live. It’s like He plans to make a new “us”.
As you start to think about this idea, take 4-5 minutes to answer these questions in your mind or feel free to write them in a journal somewhere.
What is an area of your life you find difficult, or are afraid, to surrender to God?
Close your time today talking with God about your thoughts here. You can simply start by talking to Him or you can use the following prompts to help you get started. Feel free to take as much time as you need.
Start your prayer time today by talking to God about why it is hard to surrender those things to Him.
Stay in this posture of talking and listening to God. As you go to your time of worship and teaching at church, ask Him to speak to you today!
