Remember What God Has Done.
Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.
Reading: Exodus 12
Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read. After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.
God gave Israel the Passover meal as a way to continually remember how He rescued them from slavery. They were not simply told to think about their salvation; they were given a meal that engaged their whole selves. Every year, they would eat, remember, and retell the story of what God had done. Communion carries this same purpose for us. It brings the story of Jesus’ sacrifice into our hands and minds so that we don’t forget what He has done to save us. What part of Jesus’ work of salvation do you most need to remember today?
Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…
- Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
- Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Father, help me remember Your faithfulness and the ways You have rescued and provided for me. Keep the story of Your salvation from becoming something I simply know about. Help it become something that shapes how I live.
- Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today. Faith Step: Take a few minutes today to remember a specific way God has worked in your life and thank Him for it.
