## Jesus Came to Testify to the Truth

July 30th, 2026

Jesus did not come simply to teach good principles or model a better lifestyle. He came to testify to the truth—meaning He came to show us what is actually real. In a world drowning in competing voices, manipulated images, and manufactured narratives, Jesus stands as the fixed point. He is not one perspective among many. He is the source from which all truth originates. This is not a claim that demands blind faith—it is a claim that has been tested by history, preserved in Scripture, and confirmed in the lives of millions who have encountered Him. Truth is not created. It is found in a Person.

### When Truth Becomes Relative

Relativism tells us that truth is whatever we decide it is. It sounds freeing, but it is actually one of the most dangerous ideas a society can embrace. When everyone defines their own reality, there is no shared foundation left to stand on. Conflict becomes inevitable because no one has a common reference point. The writer of Proverbs understood this long before modern philosophy gave it a name. A path can look completely reasonable and still lead somewhere devastating. The antidote is not arrogance or certainty about everything—it is humility before a God who sees more clearly than we do and has given us His Word as a guide.

### The Kingdom That Changes Everything

It is easy to assume that following Jesus simply means adopting better moral habits or securing a place in eternity. But Jesus described something far more radical—a kingdom with an entirely different set of values than the world around us. When Pilate asked, “What is truth?” he was not seeking an answer. He was dismissing the possibility that truth even existed. Many people around us carry that same posture today. As a follower of Jesus, you carry citizenship in a kingdom that does not shift with culture, politics, or popular opinion. Ask yourself today: Which kingdom is shaping my decisions?

### The Renewal of Your Mind

You act the way you act because you think the way you think. This simple truth unlocks the mystery of transformation. Our behaviors flow from our beliefs, and our beliefs are shaped by what we focus on. Paul instructs us to fix our thoughts on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable. This isn’t positive thinking; it’s truth-centered thinking. When you fill your mind with God’s Word, worship, and truth, your perspective shifts. What once seemed impossible becomes possible. What once felt unnatural becomes your new normal. Transformation doesn’t happen through willpower alone but through renewed thinking. Today, audit your thought life. What are you dwelling on? What messages are you consuming? Replace one lie you’ve been believing with a truth from Scripture. As your mind is renewed, your life will follow.

### Fighting for Your Faith

Your relationship with God will face opposition. The enemy schemes to plant doubts, twist truths, and magnify disappointments until your faith crumbles. Paul understood this warfare intimately—beaten, imprisoned, shipwrecked, yet unshaken. His secret? He took every thought captive, destroying arguments against knowing God. When disappointment whispers that God doesn't care, combat it with truth: He gave His Son for you. When confusion suggests God is absent, counter with Scripture: He promises never to leave. Don't give negative thoughts a foothold, or they'll become strongholds. Run to Jesus, to truth-speaking friends, to Scripture—not to things that weaken your faith. Spiritual warfare is real, but your weapons have divine power. Fight for the relationship Jesus already fought to secure.

### Foundations That Cannot Be Shaken

The psalmist describes God as the architect of creation, setting the earth on its foundations and establishing the boundaries of the seas. These poetic descriptions aren't scientific textbooks—they're worship songs celebrating God's sovereign power over all creation. When our interpretations of Scripture conflict with observable reality, we must humbly reconsider our understanding rather than reject truth. God invites us into honest inquiry, not fearful rigidity. Your faith doesn't need to be threatened by scientific discovery; instead, let it expand your understanding of God's magnificent design. The same God who

### Examining With Purpose

The Bereans didn't blindly accept Paul's teaching—they examined the Scriptures daily to test what they heard. This is biblical deconstruction: careful evaluation with the goal of finding truth, not just tearing down. God invites your honest questions. He's not threatened by your doubts. But examination requires intention. Are you deconstructing to discover what's true, or simply to justify walking away? There's a profound difference. Today, bring your hardest question to God. Write it down. Then commit to genuinely seeking His answer through Scripture, prayer, and trusted community. Don't pull blocks randomly from your faith—examine them carefully, remove what's false, and intentionally replace it with truth that makes you stronger.

As we spend time with Christ this week, we are thinking about the practical application of truth to our lives. Truth is not an assent to a set of mental principles, but the very thing that shapes our lives. But before we get started, let’s invite the Spirit to open our minds to what He is doing in us today. ### The Words of Eternal Life

We are exploring the nature of truth and the claim that Jesus makes to be the truth. But we live in a world of á la carte truth, so coming to terms with such an exclusive claim can be off-putting. We must ask Christ to open our hearts to hear why He would demand our full trust and loyalty, so let’s start there. Please pray with me:Holy Spirit, if I am being honest, I don’t know if I like having so...
