## We Are Still Part of the Story

October 8th, 2026

Communion is not only about remembering something Jesus did in the past. When we take communion together, we recognize that God is still at work among His people. We participate in the ongoing story of His salvation, and we do it together—not alone. Our relationship with God is alive, and He continues to work in us and through us as His people.

### From Isolation to Intentional Community

Even Jesus, the Son of God, didn’t do life alone. In His darkest moment, He brought His closest friends into His pain, saying, “My soul is crushed with grief.” Jesus modeled layers of community: He ministered to crowds, invested deeply in twelve disciples, shared intimately with three close friends, and was brutally honest with His Father. You need the same layers. Sunday services provide corporate worship, but transformation happens in smaller circles where authenticity thrives. Connect Groups aren’t just another church program; they’re essential to God’s design for your spiritual health. You cannot become who God created you to be in isolation. Today, commit to stepping deeper into community. Sign up for a Connect Group. Identify two or three people you can be courageously honest with. Reach out to someone who needs encouragement. Remember: God didn’t say, “I’ve got you” so you could hide. He said it so you could step into the transformative community He designed for you.

### You Were Made for Connection

Before sin, before pain, before death—God looked at humanity and said something was “not good.” Adam had a perfect relationship with God, walked in a perfect garden, yet something was missing: community. This reveals a profound truth about your design. You were not created to do life alone. The loneliness you sometimes feel isn’t a flaw; it’s a signal pointing you back to God’s original design. God exists in community—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and He created you in His image. Today, consider: Are you trying to navigate life in isolation? God is calling you out of hiding and into authentic connection. You were made for more than superficial relationships; you were made for deep, transformative community centered on Jesus.

### We Are One Body

The church isn't a collection of consumers gathering for services—it's a supernatural body where radically different people become interdependent through Christ. Jews and Greeks, slaves and free, all backgrounds and personalities, united not by similarity but by the Spirit. This calling challenges our cultural instincts. We naturally gravitate toward people like us, but Jesus calls us to something deeper: covenant community. Bodies fight for health; amputation is always a last resort. Today, consider: Are you treating your church family as expendable, or are you committed to the health of the whole body? Your presence, gifts, and love aren't optional—they're essential to the body's function.

### Baptized into One Body

Baptism isn't a private spiritual experience—it's a public declaration that you belong to the Body of Christ. When the Spirit baptizes you into this one body, being the church isn't optional; it's essential. You have a role, a function, a purpose within the community of believers. Too many have been

### Warmth in the Cold

There are seasons when faith feels cold—when discouragement, grief, or doubt creeps in. In those moments, genuine community becomes life-giving. Paul’s vision of the church is deeply relational: rejoicing together, weeping together, serving together. This kind of connection doesn’t happen by accident; it requires intentional love and presence. God often brings warmth to our lives through others who are willing to sit with us in our pain.

### Better Together

From the very beginning, God designed us for connection. Solomon’s wisdom reveals that meaningful work and lasting impact are rarely accomplished alone. Community is not a spiritual add-on—it’s a divine strategy. When we pursue faith in isolation, we cut ourselves off from the encouragement, accountability, and shared strength God intended for our growth. The mission of discipleship requires partnership. God often accomplishes His purposes through relationships, not despite them.

### Designed for Community

God never intended faith to be lived in isolation. You are part of a body, uniquely designed to contribute to the health of the whole. When you disengage, the body suffers. When you participate, the body flourishes. Community is not about convenience—it’s about commitment. God uses others to strengthen you, correct you, and encourage you, just as He uses you to do the same. Growth happens best in connection. You don’t attend the church—you belong to it.
