Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.
Reading: Isaiah 41
Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.
God repeatedly reminds His people that they do not need to fear because He is with them, strengthens them, and helps them. Peace does not mean that we will never have difficult circumstances or anxious thoughts. It means we have learned where to turn when those things come. As we choose to trust God, surrender what we cannot control, and remember His presence, we can experience a peace that is stronger than our circumstances. We may not know how the story will unfold, but we can know who is with us as it unfolds.
What would change in the way you are facing your current circumstances if you truly believed that God is with you, helping you, and holding you?
Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…
- Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
- Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Father, help us trust You with the things we cannot change. When fear tells us to take control, remind us that You are already present and working. Give us the courage to trust You today and the peace that comes from knowing we are never alone. Amen.
- Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.
Faith Step:
Choose a phrase from this week—“God is with me,” “I can give this to God,” or “Jesus is in the boat”—and repeat it whenever anxiety begins to surface.
