Worship During the Battle

July 14th, 2026by Tree Church Everyday
Worship During the Battle

Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.

Reading: Exodus 17:8-16

Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.

Moses’ raised hands during Israel’s battle with Amalek weren’t just symbolic—they were essential. When his hands were lifted in worship and dependence on God, Israel prevailed. When they dropped, the enemy gained ground. This reveals a critical truth: worship during difficulty invites God’s supernatural power into your present struggle.

You don’t have to wait until the storm passes to praise. Paul and Silas worshiped in prison at midnight, beaten and bound, and God sent an earthquake that opened every door. Your current trial isn’t a reason to stop worshiping; it’s the very reason to continue. Worship doesn’t deny your pain—it declares God’s presence in it. Keep your hands raised.

How can you maintain a posture of worship in your current challenges?

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…

  1. Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
  2. Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Lord, help me keep my eyes on You when life feels overwhelming. Strengthen my faith when I grow weary, and remind me that You are present in every battle. May my worship become a declaration that You are greater than anything I face today. Amen.
  3. Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.

Faith Steps:

  1. Listen to a worship song today instead of dwelling on your worries, and intentionally praise God through it.
  2. Whenever anxiety surfaces today, stop and thank God for one specific aspect of His character.
