When we try to worship God while holding tightly to worldly security, we end up serving neither well.\nGod will not bless divided worship because when blessings come, we’ll credit the wrong source. Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.

Reading: **Matthew 6:19-24**

Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.
**
Jesus makes it clear: “No one can serve two masters.” Divided worship isn’t just ineffective—it’s impossible. When we try to worship God while holding tightly to worldly security, we end up serving neither well.
**
**God will not bless divided worship because when blessings come, we’ll credit the wrong source. If we trust in our job for security, we’ll thank our career instead of our Provider. If we worship our children’s success, we’ll credit our parenting instead of God’s grace. Jesus calls us to store up treasures in heaven, where our hearts will follow. When God alone is worshipped, everything else falls into proper place—not eliminated, but rightly ordered under His lordship.**
**
Where am I trying to serve two masters, and what would full surrender to God look like in that area?**

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…

1. Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
2. Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: **Lord, forgive me for the ways I have tried to divide my loyalty between You and the things of this world. Teach me to trust You as my Provider, my Security, and my Hope. Help me surrender every competing allegiance so that my heart belongs completely to You. Amen.**
3. Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.

**Faith Steps:**

1. Identify one area where you have been relying more on yourself than on God.
2. Practice surrender today by entrusting that area to God through prayer and choosing obedience over control.
