The God Who Speaks

The God Who Speaks

Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.

Reading: Hebrews 1:1-4

Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.

God has never been silent. Throughout history, He spoke through prophets in various ways, but His clearest revelation came through Jesus Christ. The Bible isn't just ancient literature—it's God's self-disclosure, His desire to be known. When we struggle with Scripture's complexity, we must remember its primary purpose: revealing the heart of God. Not every passage answers our scientific questions or resolves historical puzzles, but every part points toward God's character and His redemptive plan. Today, approach your Bible reading not as a textbook to master, but as a love letter to receive. Ask yourself: What is God revealing about Himself in this passage? How does this draw me closer to Jesus?

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…

  1. Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
  2. Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Thank God for revealing Himself through Jesus and ask for a heart that is open to hearing His voice through Scripture.
  3. Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.

Faith Steps:

  1. Before reading your Bible today, pause and ask God to show you something about His character.
  2. Reflect on one way today’s passage points you toward Jesus and apply it to your life.
