Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.
Reading: 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.
Scripture isn't merely one influence among many—it's God's authoritative voice for every aspect of life. Yet many believers treat the Bible as a reference point they consult occasionally rather than the captain of their souls. When we know what Scripture teaches but choose our own way, we move from ignorance to rebellion. God has revealed His design for relationships, finances, sexuality, work, rest, and purpose. The question isn't whether God has spoken—it's whether we'll obey what He's said. Today, examine your life honestly. Are there areas where you know God's Word but haven't submitted to it? Remember, spiritual maturity isn't measured by knowledge alone but by obedience. Let Scripture equip you for every good work God has prepared.
What biblical truth have you been avoiding or rationalizing away?
Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…
- Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
- Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: “Father, thank You for giving me Your Word as truth and guidance. Reveal any areas where I’ve been ignoring or resisting what You’ve said, and give me the humility to obey.”
- Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.
Faith Steps:
- Identify one biblical truth you know but haven’t fully applied in your life. Take one practical step today to live it out.
- Commit to spending time in Scripture today and ask, “God, what are You asking me to obey from what I read?”
