Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.
Reading: Luke 2:29–32, Isaiah 49:6
Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.
When Simeon held Jesus, he recognized salvation itself—not an idea, but a person. Jesus was the fulfillment of every promise, hope, and longing. Salvation was no longer distant; it was tangible. But recognition matters. Seeing Jesus clearly means understanding who He truly is—not just a teacher or example, but Savior and Lord. Simeon also saw that salvation was for all people, crossing every boundary. Jesus is not exclusive to the worthy; He is good news for the broken, the outsider, and the lost. Encountering Jesus personally transforms belief into devotion.
Do I see Jesus merely as information—or as my salvation?
Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…
- Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
- Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Jesus, open my eyes to see You clearly. Help me receive You not just with my mind, but with my whole heart.
- Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.
Take Action:
- Reflect on how Jesus has personally met you—write a short testimony.
- Thank God today for the gift of salvation through Christ.
