Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.
Reading: Matthew 22:34–40; 1 John 4:20–21
Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.
The truest evidence of loving God is how we love people. But loving others well doesn’t start with effort—it starts with overflow. When you’re filled with God’s love, grace naturally extends to those around you, even when they’re difficult or undeserving. The same love that met you in your weakness equips you to meet others in theirs. As God’s love takes root in every part of your being—heart, soul, mind, and strength—it will spill over into compassion, forgiveness, and generosity.
Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…
- Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
- Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Lord, let Your love in me become Your love through me. Teach me to see people the way You see them and to love them with patience and grace.
- Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.
Take Action:
- Intentionally show kindness to someone you find difficult to love.
- Pray for one person by name each day this week, asking God to reveal His heart for them.
