Loving Others as Christ Loved Us

Loving Others as Christ Loved Us

Take 2-3 minutes to quiet yourself and ask God to speak to you today through your devotional time.

Reading: Philippians 2:1–11

Be sure to highlight or note anything that stands out to you while you read.
After reading the passage, take the next 5-10 minutes and spend time reflecting on what you read. You can write these things down in a journal or record them in your phone. Be attentive to both what you highlighted in the passage and what is going on in your life.

Jesus gave us the perfect example of humility and love—choosing to serve instead of being served, and to sacrifice instead of seeking comfort. If Christ humbled Himself for us, how much more should we consider others above ourselves? True love is not self-focused but self-giving, rooted in God’s love for us. Where might pride, self-interest, or convenience be keeping you from loving as Jesus loved? Ask Him to help you see others through His eyes.

Now, take 10 minutes to seek God in prayer…

  1. Begin your time in prayer by taking 1-3 minutes to sit in silence (You can take longer if you sense the Spirit already beginning to speak to you).
  2. Pray through the things you sensed God speaking to you through the Scriptures or pray the following prayer: Lord, thank You for loving me with such a selfless and sacrificial love. Help me to put others first, not out of guilt, but because I am filled with Your love. Shape my heart to reflect Yours.
  3. Close by taking 5 minutes to sit in silence, asking God if there is anything else He wants to speak to you today.

Take Action:

  1. Identify one relationship where you can serve instead of being served, and act on it today.

  2. Write down three ways Jesus has loved you personally, and use that list to inspire acts of love toward others.
