The Cross Brings Clarity to God’s Restoration Plan

Since Sunday is the day most churches gather for worship, we like to be purposed at the Tree Church Daily to take the time to prepare our hearts for what God wants to do through corporate worship. We believe the Spirit meets with us daily, yet something unique happens when we gather to worship together. We want to be attentive to what the Spirit is doing in these moments, because when the Spirit speaks, it has the potential to change and empower our lives. Today is about praying and asking Him to help us be aware of His activity in our lives.

If you are new to prayer and still trying to understand how God speaks, pray the prayer below, anticipating that God will meet you where you are.

Let’s pray…

Holy Spirit,
Will You open my heart and mind to the ways You want to dwell with me today? Help me to see that You are present. Help me to see the places where you are moving and working in me. Help me to hear the things You want to speak to me. Empower me to walk in Your ways and give my heart peace as I do. Amen.

When God put the plan of redemption in place, He had an end in mind. The end was not simply a forgiven people who would feel “less guilty.” Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection were the crescendo of a plan that would culminate with a people fully connected to God’s presence. God reconciling to and dwelling with humans was the end goal the whole time. In the giving of the Holy Spirit to His people, God connects with His people yet again, and fills their communities and everyday lives with His presence.

As you start to think about this idea, take 4-5 minutes to answer these questions in your mind, or feel free to write them in a journal.

What does it mean to you that God made a way to be present with you every day?

Does this scare you or excite you?

Close your time today talking with God about your thoughts. You can simply start by talking to Him, or you can use the following prompts to help you get started. Feel free to take as much time as you need.

Spirit, fill me today and speak to me. I don’t know exactly what this looks like, so I am nervous because… (now talk to God about what makes you nervous)

Stay in this posture of talking and listening to God. As you go to your time of worship and teaching at church today, ask God to speak to you!
